LA PORTE CITY - Alma A. Spence, 92, of La Porte City, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, at La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born Feb. 8, 1917, in Delhi, daughter of Harry and Jennie Eads Andrews. She married Carroll D. Spence on April 17, 1938, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He died Jan. 1, 1997.

Mrs. Spence was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, LPC Women’s Club and the Rebecca Lodge.

Survived by: three sons, Howard (Dorothy) of Winterhaven, Fla., Rick (Diana) of Waterloo and Brian of Minneapolis; a daughter, Judi (Tom) Plantz of Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Teresa (Mike) Vogel and Michelle (Mark) Gibbs, both of Arizona, Stephanie (Frank) Massey of Colorado, Deanna Spence of Florida, Shereen Prochnow and Kim (Heather) Spence, both of Minnesota, Steve (Lois) Spence of Pennsylvania and Jenny Spence of Illinois; nine great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: her parents; an infant daughter, Nancy Spence; and three sisters, Clara Turner, Goldie Wiegand and Edna Andrews.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Public visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at La Porte City Funeral Service and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
