WATERLOO - Mattie Lou Hodge Robinson, 89, of Waterloo, died at home Monday, Nov. 16, of natural causes.

She was born May 8, 1920, in Ackerman, Miss., daughter of George and Jessie Davis Hodge. She married Robert Louis Robinson on May 23, 1942, in Ackerman. He died Dec. 14, 1986.

Mrs. Robinson attended school in the Ackerman area. She retired from the Black’s Coffee House, where she worked at the soda fountain and where her specialty was Mattie’s Malts. She was a member of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church and was past president of the Mother’s Board. While working at Black’s, she was also associated with the union.

Survived by: a daughter, Robbie Pearl (Lesley) Fisher of Waterloo; three grandsons, Quentin L. (Teresa) Fisher Sr., Trevor M. (Tamika) Fisher and Chad E. (Rhonda) Fisher; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Ezell Hodge of Waterloo; a sister, Berniece (L.C.) Ledbetter of Weir, Miss.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: three brothers, George, Everett and R.W. in infancy; and four sisters, Elmeree Robinson, Ethel Kincaid, Mae Willie Hodges and Emma Graves.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today and for an hour before services Saturday, all at the church. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, An Overton Family Service, assisted the family.

Memorials: may be directed to the family at 927 N. Barclay St., where they wil receive friends.
