WATERLOO - James W. Anderson, 76, of Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center, died there Oct. 26 of natural causes.

He was born Aug. 30, 1933, in Waterloo, son of Thomas P. Anderson Sr. and Ona C. Nichols. He married Ora Jean "Dolly" Phillips.

Mr. Anderson graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1953, then served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper. He graduated from DeVry Institute in 1957 with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked at Litton Electronics in California for 10 years, then worked as a program manager at Teledyne Communication, Los Angeles, for 26 years until retirement. After retirement, he worked for the city of Waterloo as a consultant. He was a member of Payne Memorial AME Church where he served as lay president.

Survived by: two sons, Randy Baldwin and James (Dennis) Anderson; a daughter, Phyllis (Shugie) Thomas; three brothers, Hornsby (Sonny), Thomas (Booney) and Arthur (Argene); two daughters-in-law, Brandette Anderson and Sharon Baldwin; a son-in-law, William Thomas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Constance Freeman; his former wife, Ora Jean "Dolly;" a son, Terry; and a grandson.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Payne Memorial AME Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. Public visitation from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Sanders Funeral Service and from 9 a.m. until services Thursday at the church.
