WATERLOO - Lary D. Zearley, 76, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Covenant Medical Center of cardiac arrest.

He was born March 21, 1933, in Waterloo, son of Earl and Gladyce Lininger Zearley.

He graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1952; received a BA degree in 1957 from University of Iowa; and then received his certification in prosthetics at Northwestern University in Chicago in 1975.

Zearley was an operating room technician at the former Schoitz Memorial Hospital and at the University of Florida-Teaching Hospital in Gainesville from 1957 to 1963. He then was employed as a certified prosthetist at the former Dale Clark Prosthetics for 20 years, retiring in 1986.

He was past secretary/treasurer, vice president and president of the Iowa-Nebraska Chapter of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists, and was instrumental in its charter organization.

Survived by: numerous cousins and extended family.

Preceded in death by: his mother, father and stepmother.

Memorial services: and inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. There will be no visitation; his body has been cremated.
