WATERLOO - Gerald R. Bluhm, 91, of Friendship Village, died there Saturday, Oct. 10, of natural causes.

He was born Oct. 24, 1917, in Bertha, Minn., son of Emil and Bertha Leyh Bluhm. He married Stella Carnes on April 8, 1939, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She died June 12, 2008.

Mr. Bluhm was employed as an electrician at Rath Packing Co. for 41 years, retiring in 1979. He was U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a lifelong member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church.

Survived by: a son, Dennis (Beverly) of Stephens City, Va.; a sister, Arvilla Captain of Bertha, Minn.; and a granddaughter, Angela (Justin) Jones of Baltimore.

Preceded in death by: his parents; a grandson, Brian Bluhm; five brothers, Harold, Raymond, Ralph, Orville and Donover; and a sister, Helen Voge.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
