WATERLOO - Kenneth "Ken" Marvin Davenport, 66, of Waterloo, died Sept. 29 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, after a long illness.

He was born Feb. 18, 1943, in Harbor Beach, Mich., son of Angus Marvin and Clarice Elaine Dollman Davenport. He married Diane Carter in 1966 and they later divorced. He later married Patricia Durfee in 1996. She died Jan. 20, 2008.

Mr. Davenport graduated from high school in Tawas, Mich., and earned his bachelor's degree and master's degree in geography from Michigan State University. He attended the University of Minnesota where he did postgraduate work in library science. He then attended Kent State University where he earned a Master of Library Science degree. He had worked as a library consultant for the North East Iowa Service Area since 1991. He was a chair for the annual conference of the Iowa Library Association Credentials Committee.

Survived by: his mother of Lansing, Mich.; two brothers, Grant of Salsa, Alaska, and Bruce (Rose Mary) of Lansing; and a sister, Patricia (Jack) Kirk of Preston, Md.

Preceded in death by: his father.

Celebration of life: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Waverly Public Library.
