WATERLOO, IOWA - Velma Elizabeth Williams, 77, of Friendship Village, died there Saturday, October 3, of natural causes.
She was born February 24, 1932, in Primghar, daughter of Clarence and Emma Stueck Steffens.
She graduated from Primghar High School and Pitze's Beauty School and worked at Waynes Salon for 38 years, retiring in 2006.
Survived by: two daughters, Jeanine K. (Tariq) Khan of Tucson, Ariz., and Terese L. Violette of New Jersey; two sons, Eddie L. (Kristi) of Rushville, Ill., and W. Todd (Julie) of Hudson; eight grandchildren, Marc Saucerman, Marnie Clifford, Sara Palmer, Tara Scherrer, Carrie Hood, Jonathan Khan, Michael Violette and Daniel Williams; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, LeRoy Steffens of Hartley; and three sisters, Louise (Ollie) Vogt of Spencer, Arlene Sampson of Hartley and Shirley Schelich of Waterloo.
Preceded in death by: two brothers, Alvin and Kenneth Steffens; and a sister, Leona Wellman.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, with burial in Westview Cemetery, La Porte City. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and for an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Parkinson's Disease Research.
