ROBINSON, FISHER, BROWN, MINER, ANDERSON, HOCKEY, CALDWELL, MACK

WATERLOO - William H. Robinson, 84, of Friendship Village Retirement Center, died there Friday, Oct. 2, of cancer.

He was born March 11, 1925, in Newcastle, Wyo., son of William R. and Bernice Fisher Robinson. He married Marjorie L. Lee on Aug. 25, 1946, in Hancock.

Mr. Robinson graduated from Newcastle High School and then from Iowa State University in 1945 with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. He owned and operated Robinson Engineering for 32 years, retiring in 1988.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War and in the Naval Reserve, discharged in 1948 as a lieutenant, JG.

He was an active member at First United Methodist Church and served on several committees. He was founding member and past president of Waterloo Sertoma Club and member of Cedar Valley Sertoma Club. He was a life member and served on State Board of Iowa Engineering Society, a Founding member of Consulting Engineers Council of Iowa, served 13 years for Black Hawk County Conservation Board, a Founding member and past president of Iowa County Conservation Board, a Founding Charter Member and past president of Society of Land Surveyors of Iowa, and volunteered with Golden Apple in Waterloo

Survived by: his wife, Waterloo; a daughter, Donna (Gary) Brown of Cedar Falls; a son, Michael (Kelly) of Duluth, Minn.; four grandchildren, Robin (Joe) Hockey of Broomfield, Colo., Nicole (Doug) Miner of Cedar Falls, Ben Robinson of Hugo, Minn., and Erin (Ryan) Anderson of Portland, Ore.; six great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Jessica Hockey, Weston and Emily Miner, Leah and Jonah Robinson; and two sisters, Helen (Virgil) Caldwell of Sioux City and Hazel (Joe) Mack of Sante Fe, N.M.

Preceded in death by: his parents, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Robinson; a sister, Edith Garland; and two brothers, Delbert and Sylvester.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Waterloo First United Methodist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials: may be directed to First United Methodist Church, Friendship Village Pavilion Auxiliary, Iowa Department of the Blind, or Cedar Valley Hospice.
