KIELTY, OBRIEN, WEATHERLY, BLOUGH, MCKINNEY, LOONAN, OCONNOR

WATERLOO - Robert J. "Bob" Kielty, 73, of Waterloo, died Monday, Sept. 21, at Friendship Village.

He was born Jan. 13, 1936, in Waterloo, son of Francis John and Mary Irene O'Brien Kielty.

He married Helen Weatherly on April 1, 1960, in Washburn. Mr. Kielty served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He then worked for John Deere Tractor Manufacturing Co. in the heat treat for 33 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and was a Covenant volunteer.

Survived by: his wife; three sons, Mike (LouAnne) of Waterloo, Brian (Krista) of Johnston and David (Lisa) of Ackley; a daughter, Diane Kielty of Cedar Falls; six granddaughters, KristaLou, Danielle, Emma, Amie, Mackenzie and Elizabeth; three sisters, Mary (Bud) Blough of Waterloo, Jean McKinney of Wichita, Kan., and Gerri (Gary) Loonan of Huntley, Ill.; and a brother-in-law, Tim O'Connor of Dakota Dunes, S.D.

Preceded in death by: his parents; a sister, Fran O'Connor; and a brother-in-law, John McKinney.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Waterloo AMVETS Post 19. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
