Chance Jeremy Rhoades, 31, of Des Moines and formerly of Hudson, took his own life on Wednesday, February 20, 2008.

Chance was born May 29, 1976, in Waterloo, the son of Jerry and Sharon Billerbeck Rhoades.

He graduated from Hudson High School in 1994 and earned his bachelors degree in business from Iowa State University.

Chance worked in sales at Doll Distributing Company in Des Moines.

Chance is survived by his parents Jerry and Sharon Rhoades, Sisters Steffani and Kodi Rhoades, and paternal Grandmother Ruby Rhoades, all of Hudson, maternal Grandmother Bonnie Billerbeck of Reinbeck, and Nephew Takoda Rhoades of Hudson.

He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Kathy and Greg Heisey of Tucson, Arizona; Marty and Gary Clark of Douglas, Arizona; Bill and Pat Billerbeck of Cedar Falls; Jan and Kent Hanon of Bellevue, Nebraska; Janet Niedert of Carpinteria, California; Jennifer and Craig Messer of Gilbert, Arizona; Jeffery and Erlene Rhoades of Hudson; and Jim Billerbeck of Traer.

Chance is preceded in death by Grandfathers Leo Rhoades and Marvin Billerbeck; Aunt Judy Billerbeck; Uncles James Rhoades and Larry Niedert; and Cousins Scott Rhoades and Austin Heisey.

He was involved in wrestling and football in high school and later TKE fraternity member in college. Chance was outgoing and had a witty sense of humor and had many friends from all over. He loved spending his summers at Lake Okoboji.

He was a loving son, brother, relative and friend.
