Donald J. Gibbons (1917-2009)

Waterloo, Iowa - Donald James Gibbons, 92, of Waterloo, died Friday, December 18, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

He was born Janury 13, 1917, in Jesup, son of Leo and Elizabeth Symaroski Gibbons. He married Bertha Louisa Thoma on April 11, 1939, in Orleans, Nebraska.

Mr. Gibbons was employed with John Deere on the assembly line. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Patricia Jones of New Mella, Missouri; and a sister, Alice Wolfe of Jesup.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, his twin, Daniel, and Lawrence; and a nephew, Ronnie Gibbons.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4:30 p.m. 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of Foresters rosary. Visitation also and hour before services Monday at the church.
