Emil G. Kroll Succumbs From Heart Attack

Found Dead in his Room When Called for Breakfast Sunday

Emil G. Kroll, 62, 924 1/2 West Second street, was found dead in his room early Sunday morning. Death was due to a heart attack.

According to Coroner Cantwell, the man died late Saturday night. A sudden and violent heart attack is believed responsible for his death.

Kroll, who is the proprietor of a soft drink parlor at 924 West Second street is well known in Davenport. Saturday night he retired to his room above his place of business and complained that he did not feel well.

The body was found by a man named Schumaker, who tried to rouse Kroll for breakfast. Coroner Cantwell was immediately called. No inquest will be held.

Deceased was born in Germany, April 4, 1861, and came to America in 1870. He went direct to Waterloo where he lived for a number of years. Twelve years ago he moved to Davenport and lived here since.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Earl Miners of Oregon, Ill; one son, Carl Kroll of Tripoli; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Knudsen of Waterloo; three half brothers, George, Fred and Louis Kroll; one half sister, Mrs. Fred Wieland of Waterloo.

The remains will be sent to Waterloo early this evening for burial.

Emil Kroll, 61, Is Victim of Apoplexy at Davenport Home

Emil Kroll, 61, a member of an early Waterloo family, died suddenly of apoplexy at his home in Davenport, Ia., Saturday night. Apparently in good health when retiring Saturday, he was found dead in his bed Sunday morning.

Two years ago, on the same date, his mother died in Waterloo. His father had died 11 days preceding the mother. A brother, Carl, died three years ago.

The body will be brought to Waterloo tonight and services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow from O'Keefe & Towne funeral home. Rev. R.E. Williamson will officiate and pallbearers will be members of the Moose lodge, of which decedent was a member. Burial will be in Elmwood.

Mr. Kroll was born April 4, 1862, in Germany. He came to this country when a small child with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kroll, who settled in Waterloo immediately upon their arrival.

Surviving are two children, Carl, Tripoli, Ia. and Mrs. Earl Minor, Oregon, Ill., and the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. J.C. Knudsen, Mrs. F.W. Wieland, Fred C. Kroll, Waterloo; George Kroll, Los Angeles, Cal.; Louis Kroll, Cincinnati, O.
