Mrs. Augusta Kroll Is Taken by Death 11 Days after Husband

Death separated Ferdinand and Augusta Kroll, 127 Jefferson street, only 11 days. Mr. Kroll died Sept. 4 and his aged wife died at noon today. They suffered from the same malady, summer influenza. Mr. Kroll was 83 and his wife 84. She was taken ill a week later than he and confined to her bed when he died. She improved and hopes of recovery were held out.

At 8 a.m. today Mrs. Kroll became suddenly worse, due to perforation of the intestines.

"I wish I could go to join pa," she told her children while suffering extreme pain. Her wish was granted a few hours later.

Mrs. Kroll was born June 4, 1837, in Germany. Her first husband was Ludwig Kroll. He died, leaving three children. Later she married Ferdinand, a brother of Ludwig, and to this union four children were born. All survive except Carl, who died a year ago. Surviving are Amil, Davenport; George and Louis, Chicago; Mrs. J.C. Knudsen, Mrs. F.W. Weiland and Fred C. Kroll, Waterloo.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the O'Keefe & Towne funeral home. Burial will be between husband and son in Elmwood.

Mr. and Mrs. Kroll came to Waterloo more than 50 years ago and lived all that time within two blocks of the present home.
