Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Church of the Brethren for Mrs. Bessie E. Strayer, former Waterloo resident, who died at Fairmont, Minn., Monday night. The Rev. Archie Patrick, pastor, will officiate.

Mrs. Strayer died of a heart attack while visiting a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Tompson, at Fairmont. The body will be brought to Parrott & Wood funeral home following services at Olson Funeral Home, Fairmont, at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Mrs. Strayer was born June 16, 1890, in Eagle Township, the daughter of Jacob and Clara Lichty. She married Merle C. Strayer Aug. 27, 1911, in the home of her parents in Waterloo. The couple lived in that home until 1922 and at 1321 Grant Ave., Waterloo, from 1922 and celebrated their 5oth wedding anniversary there.
She was a member of the Waterloo Church of the Brethren and taught Sunday school for many years. She was also active in the church women’s society.

Her husband preceded her in death April 9, 1964.
She is survived by her daugher, Mrs. Thompson; a son, Ray of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Harvey Lichty, a resident of the Americana Rest Home, Waterloo, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery.
