Services for John D. Lichty, 72, of 1424 Hawthorne Ave., who died at Schoitz Tuesday morning of a pulmonary embolism, will be Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p. m. at the Church of the Brethren, 1604 Hammond Ave. Officiating will be Rev. Charles A. Albin, pastor of the South Waterloo Church of the Brethren.

Burial will be in Orange Township Cemetery. The casket will be taken to the church at noon Thursday from the Locke Funeral Home, where friends may call until service time. The casket will not be open following the service.

Mr. Lichty died of a coronary attack at 7:30 a. m. Tuesday in Schoitz Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Orange Township on July 13, 1894, to Abraham and Mary Bear [sic] Lichty and married Belle E. Smith Sept. 2, 1915, here. He was engaged in farming until he became employed by the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, retiring in 1958. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one child.

Mr. Lichty is survived by his widow; a son, John S. Lichty of 2723 E. 4th St.; four daughters, Mmes. Betty Phillip of Golden, Colorado, Lorene Dobson of Denver, Colorado, Dan Loonan of Gilbert and Helen Cockerham of 1413 Hawthorne Ave.; two brothers, Robert of Austin, Minnesota, and Earl of Harmony, Minnesota; two sisters, Mmes. Cora Blough of 6619 Kimball Ave. and Pearl Gnagy of 1411 Denver St.; and 21 grandchildren.
