At 11 o’clock Saturday night, occurred the death of John Weigle, at his home, 304 Hammond avenue, caused by cancer of the stomach. The end came as a welcome relief from months of suffering, the deceased bing first attacked with the illness which resulted in his death last July.
Mr. Weigle was one of the pioneers of the county, having resided for a short time in Orange township, after which he moved to eagle township where he made his home for a number of years. About five years ago Mr. Weigle moved to Waterloo and has lived in retirement here since that time.
Deceased was born in Germany, March 31, 1835 and came to this county in 1865. He was twice married, first to Susannah Groff, who died fourteen years ago, and seven years ago he was united in marriage to Sarah Lichty. Four children were born by the first marriage, and are as follows: Mrs. Susannah Clapp, Horace, Nebraska; Mrs. Carrie Foulk, Washburn, and Christopher and Wm. of Orange township.
The funeral services were held today, short prayer being said at the home after which the funeral was held at the Brethren church at 2 o’clock this afternoon.
