Mrs. Lydia Speicher, 94, a former long-time resident of Waterloo, died about 7:30 a. m. Wednesday at a Marshalltown convalescent home where she had been a patient since 1936. Death was caused by complications of advanced age.
Mrs. Speicher was born June 6, 1860, in Somerset county, Pa., the daughter of David and Barbara Sweitzer. She was married to William Speicher at Waterloo in 1885. Mr. Speicher died in 1892.
She lived on a farm in Orange township from 1885 to 1899 when she came to Waterloo. Mrs. Speicher resided here for 37 years before going to Marshalltown.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mae Jay, 803 Randolph St. and Mrs. Frank McKeller, Minneapolis, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. One sister and six brothers preceded her in death.
The body was to be returned Wednesday from Marshalltown to the Locke Funeral Home where funeral arrangements are pending.
