CEDAR FALLS, IOWA-- Leonard S. Daman, age 80, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, March 29, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

He was born Feb. 11, 1928, near Cresco, Iowa, the son of George N. and Ollie E. Salisbury Damann.

He married Mila M. Cannon on March 4, 1950, in Harmony, Minnesota.

Mr. Damann served in the U.S. Marines from 1946 to 1949. He farmed in his younger years, and in 1957 began working for John Deere and Co., retiring in 1982. From 1983 to 1990 he was manager of the Decorah Airport. He owned the Olde Mill Upholstery Shop, Waterloo, from 1990 to 1995, then went to work for Dietrich & Associates/Terex, where he was presently working.

Leonard is survived by his wife; by two sons, Larry (Sherri) of Evansville, Ind., and Vaughn (Sandy) of Evansdale; by two daughters, Debra (Gordon) Davidson of Waterloo and Tamila (Don) Yancey of Cedar Falls; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bonnie Jean (Don) Woods of Omaha, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norbert and Verne.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
