Donald E. Foster, 83, of La Porte City died Thursday, May 18, 2006 at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was born February 19, 1924 in La Porte City son of Roland and Helen (McBride) Foster. Don was a 1942 graduate of La Porte City High School. He married Phyllis C. Davis on October 5, 1946 in La Porte City.

Don was employed with John Deere as a General Supervisor at the PEC for 30 years; retiring in May 1982. He was a US Army Air Force veteran serving in WWII, a former board member at La Porte City Golf Club and a member of La Porte City American Legion San Diego Post 207.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of La Porte City; son, Claire and Joan of La Porte City; daughter, Barbara and Kenneth Wittmayer of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and a brother, Verne of Atlanta, Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Diane Kay Runyan; brothers, Irwin and Dale Foster and sister, Shirley Blocker.

Services were held May 22, 2006 at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball with inurnment in West View Cemetery, La Porte City.
