The railroad was the Chicago and Northwestern Railway. Records are limited or non existent in the 1880's for employees. You might first try baptism records. You did not give your grandmother's first name nor her date of birth. You said she lived with her sister. Do you mean her mother Karen Simonsdatter lived with her sister Anna Helene? What census have you located them in? Where did your grandmother marry and grow up?

There is a Samuel and Anna Helene Nelsen family in Norway, Benton, Iowa who had daughters baptized at the Benton Lutheran Church. The names you listed appear to be Norwegian. Perhaps your ancestor was also baptized in that church. Perhaps her parents married there also. Several of the Norwegian families in that area returned to Norway.

If you can provide a little more information such as exact name and date of birth and any censuses, perhaps someone can give you a little more help.
