This site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~iaaudubo/1889Bio/jconradbio.htm has a Biography of a Joseph Conrad (born in Germany in April, 1853), the son of Joseph and Mary A. Conrad, which was transcribed from the 1889 Biographical History of Shelby and Audubon Counties in Iowa. In 1879 he married Albertina Baller. He purchased land in Hamlin Twp., in Audubon County and moved there in the 1880s.
