Former Resident of Exira Vicinity
Died Following Stroke


Funeral services were held today for
Mrs. Chris Hansen, former Exira resident,
who died at her home in Denver,
Colorado, Sunday following a stroke
suffered three weeks previous. A short
service was held at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Bud Leigan, following
which services were held at the St.
John church west of town, with Rev.
Vedebeck in charge, assisted by Rev.
L. Mehr. Burial was in the St. John

Louisa Miller was born at Hersager,
Denmark, August 12, 1871. She came
to the United States when 17 years of
age with two brothers, settling on a
farm five miles west of this place.

She was married to Hans Hansen in
this country, and a few years after
their marriage Mr. Hansen was called
in death. In 1900 she was married
to his brother, Chris Hansen.

The Hansens resided west of Exira
until five years ago when they moved
to Denver.

Besides the husband, she is survived
by three children by her first marriage
and two by the second. They are Harvey
Hansen of Benson, Nebr., Mrs. Bud
Leigan, Exira, and Mrs. Keith Burnett
of Denver, Colo.; Elmer and Jens Hansen
also of Denver. Three sisters and
four brothers also survive. They are
Mrs. Hans Hansen, Sr., Exira; Mrs. J.
C. Christensen, Ardmore, S. D.; Mrs.
Thomas Lohner, Wetonka, S. D.; Alfred
Miller and Peter Miller, Exira;
Chris Miller, Anita, and Hans Miller,

Note: Parents of Louisa C. Miller were Andreas Hansen Miller and Amalia "Mollie" Miller. Louisa was married 1st to Jens Hansen, and 2nd to Jens' brother, Christian H. "Chris" Hansen.
