Thursday, August 23, 1906, pg. 6

Grandpa Samuel Dutler, after
years full of good deeds to his fel-
low mortals in this vale of tears,
closed his eyes in death at the home
of his daughter, Mrs. Chris Bauer,
over in Audubon township, on last
Sunday August 19, 1906, and his
spirit winged its flight to the great
white throne to be forever at rest at
the Master's feet. Funeral services
were held at the German Lutheran
church, in Audubon township, on
Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock,
conducted by the pastor, Rev. O.
Cloeter, who spoke words of comfort
and hope to the sorrowing ones
gathered there and the body was
laid to rest in the churchyard near
by. Mr. Dutler was born September
8, 1833, and for twenty-six years
had resided on the farm where he
died; numbered his friends by the
score and they all sincerely grieve
that their much respected neighbor
was taken from among them. His
wife died a few years ago but the
following children are left and all
were present to smooth his dying
pillow and attended the funeral
obsequies: Mrs. Chris Bauer, Mrs.
Jake Bauer, Mrs. Henry Bauer, Mrs.
William Baylor, Mrs. George Baylor,
Mrs. John Peters, of Haven,
Kansas; and Samuel Dutler, Junior,
all of whom reside near the old
home, a few miles east of Exira. In
the families are twenty-five grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.

Note: Samuel Dutler was married to Anna Maria Graham.
