DEATH OF MRS.
STOTTS IN ATLANTIC--------
Old residents of this community
were saddened to learn of the death
of Sarah Stotts of Audubon, who
passed away at the Atlantic hospital
Friday afternoon, April 23.
Mrs. Stotts was born in Ohio in
1852, the daughter of Anthony
Hanker (Hunter) and wife who were early
settlers of Exira. She married
Willis P. Stotts and assisted him in
his business during his career as a
merchant in Exira in the eighties,
or before the founding of Audubon.
Her later life was spent in Colorado,
where Mr. Stotts died about twenty
years ago. Since that time Mrs.
Stotts has lived with her sister,
Mrs. S. A. Graham of Audubon,
who with two brothers John
Hunter of Guthrie Center and
James Hunter of Hobart, Okla.,
are left to grieve for the sister gone
before. The late Melville Graham,
who was laid to rest last week, was
a nephew. She was also an aunt of
our fellow townsman, Willis (Bid)
Workman.Mrs. Stotts was buried in the
Exira cemetery last Saturday afternoon
after brief but beautiful services
conducted by Rev. Shenton
of Audubon. And thus ends the
long and useful career of one of
Audubon county's best loved
women.Note: Parents of Sarah A. Hunter were Anthony Hunter and Jane McCammon. Sarah was 1st married to Thomas D. Wilson and 2nd to Willis P. Stotts.
