Mrs. Minnie Bell May-Bailey

----------

Was born on the fifth day of Octo-
ber, 1880, at Bedford, Iowa, and she
died at Exira, Iowa, on Monday
afternoon, the twenty-fourth day of
September, 1906. Twenty-two years
ago she came with her parents to
Exira where she grew from child
hood. Frail and delegate, some ten
years ago; at the home of her par-
ents her little girl was born and
from that time her health began to
steadily decline; that dreaded disease,
consumption, fastening itself
upon her and despite all that loving
care or medical attention could do
its ravages could not be stayed.
She suffered greatly but during all
the months of her illness she was
patient, cheerful, uncomplaining
her one anxiety being to live for the
sake of her child, yet willing to de-
part if it was the will of God. She
united with the Christian church
at Exira some nine years ago in a
meeting held by Evangelist
Charles Lockhart. Besides her lit-
tle daughter she leaves mother and
father, two sisters and four broth-
ers to mourn her loss.

Speak, then; thou voice of God within
Thou of the deep, low tone!
Answer me, through life's restless chain
"Where is the spirit flown?"
And the voice answered: "Be thou still
Enough to know is given,
Clouds, winds and stars their parts fulfil(l)
Thine is to trust in heaven."
Brief funeral services were held at
the parental home on Wednesday
afternoon at two o'clock, Elder H.
Pallister, pastor of the Christian
church, officiating after which the
remains were conveyed to the
Exira Cemetery and committed to
the tomb. "Come unto me all ye
that labor and are heavy laden, and
I will give you rest."

Note: Parents of Minnie Bell May were Solon D. May and Margaret "Maggie" Smith. Minnie was married to Harry E. Bailey.
