gold and crossed the plains to Sacramento,
California, in 1849; remained
there sixteen years, then went
to Cuba where he remained for a
time and then returned to Quincy,
Illinois, where he remained twelve

he came to Audubon county in a
covered wagon and settled on a

community where he passed his
last years of life, to mourn his loss.Note: William was married to Johanne W. "Hannah" Hocamp.
