YOUNG MAN LOSES
LIFE WHILE HUNTING

--------
A Nephew of Mrs. Dwight
West is Drowned in
Wyoming

--------

Mrs. Dwight West received
notice last week of the death by
drowning of her nephew, Charles
Miller, in Brooks Lake, 16 miles
from Casper, Wyoming, while duck
hunting (11.2.1919). Charles and another
young man were in a boat on the
lake when the kick from their
heavy double barrelled shotgun
overturned the boat. Two other
young boys who were on the
shore gave the alarm but when
help came the boys and boat had
gone to the bottom of the lake.

Charles Miller was the son of
Esbon Miller, who it will be remembered
by our pioneer citizens
was raised on the Boy Herrick
farm south of Exira. He is a
brother of Mrs. West and G. I.
Miller, formerly Superintendent of
our schools. His son Charles saw
two years of active service in
France, taking part in seven battles.
It is sad that after escaping the horrors
ot the war the young man
should have met this untimely end.

Note: Parents of Charles Clarence Miller were Esbon Malachi Miller and Rebecca Ellen Chamberlain.
