LOCAL AND PERSONAL

E. D. Cotton departed last Friday
evening for Pasadena, California,
in answer to a telegram he received
that day stating that his son
Galen was very low. No further
word has been received but all are
hoping that he may recover soon.

EDWARD GALEN COT-
TON PASSES AWAY

Edward Galen Cotton, son of
Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Cotton, was
born in Exira, Iowa, April 27, 1890.
He was a most moral and worthy
young man, quiet and gentlemanly
at all times, a most pleasant and
agreeable companion and was always
considerate of others. Almost
his entire life was spent in Exira,
where he attended school and later
for a time Grinnell College. In
April 1918 he went with the A. E.
F. to France, where he soon contracted
lung trouble after which
most of his time was spent in hospitals
until December 1918 when
he was returned to Prescott, Arizona
for treatment. Last spring he
was granted discharge and returned
to his home in Exira. His health
continued to fail until September
last when it was thought the
climate of California might be of
benefit, at which time his family
went with him to Pasadena, but
climate and medical skill failed to
improve his condition and on January
5th, among sunshine and flowers,
emblematic of a life devoted to
the happiness of others, the kindly
spirit of Galen Cotton, with the de-
clining day of a sunny, southern
climate, passed peacefully on to
God, who gave it birth.

The many virtues of Galen Cotton
will live long in the memory of
•those who knew him. The family
have the profound sympathy of all.

Note: Parents of Edward Galen Cotton were Edward Douglas "Ed" Cotton and Anna Eliza Rendleman. The mother passed away 3 weeks later on 1.29.1920 in Pasadena, CA.
