ANOTHER EXIRA BOY
GAVE UP HIS LIFE

Private Frank Antona Navratil
was born June 2, 1894 near Exira.
Iowa, and died at Camp Beuregard
Louisiana, October 17, 1918. He
spent all his life in Audubon County,
where he did agricutural work
in which he always was very much
interested. In the last year he was
always ready and prepared to be
called for his country's service,
whenever that might be. September
6th last he was sent to Camp
Dodge to train for army life. About
five weeks later he was transferred
to Camp Beuregard, Louisiana,
where he passed away after a brief illness
of pneumonia, following influenza.

Frank was loved by all who knew
him, He was a kind and loving
son and Brother and will never be
forgotten. He. leaves to mourn his
loss, his mother, Mrs. Mary Navratil,
brother. Adolph, and four sisters,
Mrs. Joe Meurer, Sister Mary
Cornela, O.S.B., Marie and Lillian
and many other relatives.

The remains were brought home
where a short and impressive service
was conducted by Rev. Cos-
tello. The floral tributes bespoke a
host of fond memories for the deceased,
Old glory was draped on
the casket and reminded those present
that he had died in the service
of his country. His remains were
laid to rest in the Holy Trinity
Catholic Cemetery at Exira, Iowa,
Thursday morning.

Note: Parents of Frank Antona Navratil were Frank James Navratil and Mary Anna Silhan.
