MINNIE STETZEL

Mrs. Minnie A. (Lloyd) Stetzel, daughter of Hans and Catherine Birk Bengard was born March 3, 1910 in Audubon County, Iowa. She died Dec. 13, 1985 at Audubon County Memorial Hospital, Audubon, at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 10 days.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Exira Christian Church and attended Exira schools, graduating in 1927. She taught rural school south of Exira. On May 28, 1935 she married Lloyd A. Stetzel at the Exira Christian Church. They farmed in Audubon County. In 1951 they purchased Camp Mark, a family resort near Hackensack, Minn., which they operated until retiring in 1973.

They moved to their home in Exira in 1978. Minnie was exceptionally talented as a China painter and had enjoyed this activity since the early 70's. She was a member of the Exira Christian Church, Nishna Valley China Doll Club, and Social Neighbors club.

Preceding her were her parents and three brothers, Lou, John and Edwin Bengard.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; her two sons, Clark and Joanne Stetzel and James and Vicky Stetzel, all of Brooklyn; five grandchildren, Paul Stetzel of Iowa City, and Karen Stetzel Kline, Cary Stetzel, Jeff Stetzel and Jon Stetzel of Brooklyn, and four sisters in Exira.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. in the Exira Christian Church with Rev. R. Carrol Johnson officiating. Interment was in Exira cemetery.
