Mrs. George Eagen, pioneer resi-
dent of this county, died at her
home in Greeley township Saturday
about noon. She had been ill since
last Christmas, but until two weeks
ago had seemed to be getting bet-
ter. A blood clot in her heart was
the cause of death.

Rachel Cordella Parrott, daughter
of Barbara and Perry Parrott, was
born in Dubuque county, Iowa, on
December 31, 1867. She was one of
ten children four of whom preced-
ed their sister in death. Those who
had previously broken the circle of
brothers and sisters were S. M. Par-
rott, Lizzie Sayles, Lester Parrott
and Arthur Parrott.

She was married to George Eag-
en, Sr., at the home of her parents
two miles north of Exira on Febru-
ary 3, 1892. To this union were
born three children, one of whom,
Eunice, died in infancy.

Surviving are her husband, two
children, Margaret Dutler and Geo.
Eagen, Jr., of Audubon county;
four sisters and three brothers, Mrs.
Ella Hensley and Mrs. Mayme
Christensen, of Seattle, Washing-
ton; Mrs. Bertha Campbell of Car-
roll, Mrs. Flora Fredricks of Green
Bay, Wisconsin; Thomas Parrott of
Exira and Horace Parrott of Boone.
Nine grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held at the
Christian church in Exira, on Tues-
day afternoon with the Rev. A. G.
Whittier in charge. Burial was in
the Exira cemetery.

Note: Parents of Rachel Cordelia E. Parrott were Perry Parrott and Barbara Ann Deuel.
