--------

Perry Richard Lowers, a native
of Oakfield and well known At-
lantic mechanic, died Friday morn-
ing at the Jones hospital in At-
lantic following a brief illness.
Death was caused by a ruptured
gall bladder. He had been a patient
at the hospital only a few days,
undergoing an operation on Wed-
nesday.

He was born at Oakfield on
Sept. 30, 1881, being a son of
Sam and the late Mrs. Nellie
Chase Lowers. Prior to locating in
Atlantic he had lived at Walnut,
Brayton and Lewis.

Surviving are the widow, a
daughter, Hazel Lowers of Atlan-
tic, his father, Sam Lowers of
Brayton, a brother, Dell Lowers of
Audubon, and three sisters, Mrs.
Charles Oakes of Madison, S. D.,
Mrs. Joseph Shaw of Audubon and
Mrs. Walter Hansen of Brayton.

Mr. Lowers was a member of
the Lewis Methodist Episcopal
church many years.

Funeral services were held
Sunday afternoon at the Roland,
Peacock & Baxter funeral home.
The Rev. A. Breeling, pastor of
the Lewis Methodist Episcopal
church officiated and burial was
in the Atlantic cemetery.

Bad luck has dogged the Lowers
family during the last year.

Mr. Lowers was employed at
the Lindsey Machine and Auto
shop as a machinist. About a year
ago he suffered the loss of one
of his eyes in an explosion at the
shop. A son, Jay Lowers, paint-
er, was found dead in an auto-
mobile on a country road north-
east of Atlantic about six weeks
ago, a victim of a heart attack.
Mrs. Jay Lowers gave birth to a
son, Jerry Lee, Wednesday after-
noon at the Jones hospital.

Note: Parents of Perry Richard Lowers were Samuel E. "Sam" Lowers and Frances Ellen "Nelli" Chase.
He was married to Pearl Catherine Brazer.
