George Struthers, Long
Time Resident, Died
Unexpectedly Monday

--------

George Struthers, 71 year old
Exira farmer, died in the auto-
mobile of John Bengard, while en-
route to Exira Tuesday morning.
Death was attributed to a heart
attack.

Mr. Struthers had started to
town from his farm three miles
north of here along highway 71
with a can of cream. He had gone
a short distance when he was of-
fered a ride by Mr. Bengard, who
was returning to Exira from Au-
dubon. They had gone but a short
distance when Mr. Struthers was
noticed to be breathing hard. He
died before a doctor was reached.

Coroner Hans J. Johnson of Au-
dubon was called and at an inquest
it was decided that death resulted
from a heart attack.

The deceased was born in Wis-
consin in 1862 and came to Iowa
in 1871. He was married to Miss
Cora Coe in Hamlin township
June 30, 1886. The couple cele-
brated their golden wedding an-
niversary last June and had lived
on the same farm for 38 years.

Besides the widow, Mr. Struthers
is survived by six children, George
and Gies of Atlantic, Mrs. Hattie
Huyck of Audubon, Ernie Struth-
ers and Mrs. Lazetta Jensen of
Exira and Garnett at home. Four
children died in infancy. He is also
survived by one brother, Jarve, of
Spirit Lake.

Funeral services will be held
Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at
the Federated church with the
Rev. E. Carnell Wilson in charge.
Burial will be in the Exira cem-
etery.
