Takes Own Life

Hangs Self In Barn.
Funeral Wednesday--------
Bruce Benton, well known farmer
residing just over the line in Guth-
rie county ten miles northeast of
this place (Exira), took his own life by hang-
ing Sunday morning. His body was
found hanging in the barn by a
neighbor who had called at the Ben-
ton place between 9 and 10 o'clock.Benton had done his morning
chores as usual. He was in no fi-
nancial difficulties and relatives and
friends can give no reason for his
act.He was born December 10, 1893,
on the farm where he died and had
resided there his whole lifetime. He
served during the World war with
Company M, 168th infantry, of Red
Oak. In December 1919, he was
married to Mabel Boehme of this
place, daughter of Mrs. Chas.
Boehme.Surviving are his widow, three
children, Velma, 11, Leon 9 and
Boyd, 3, and his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Will Benton of Guthrie Center.Funeral services were held Wed-
nesday afternoon at one o'oclock at
the home and at two o'clock at the
Baptist church in Guthrie Center.
Burial was in the Guthrie Center
cemetery (Union).Note: Parents were George William Benton and Carrie E. Sherman.
