Accident Occurred At Home
Of His Brother North
Of Elk Horn

Dale Esbeck, 16, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Andrew Esbeck, of east of
Lorah, was instantly killed at
11:20 Tuesday morning while fell-
ing a tree at the farm of his
brother, Leslie Esbeck, a mile and
a half northeast of Elk Horn.

Dale and Leslie Esbeck were
chopping down a large tree. As
the tree started to fall, Dale was
trapped. His head was crushed.

Leslie Esbeck summoned neigh-
bors who assisted in removing the
body from under the fallen tree.

The Esbeck family formerly
lived near Atlantic. Dale Esbeck
was born on a farm near Lorah on
Feb. 26, 1920, a son of Mr. and
Mrs. Andrew Esbeck. He attended
Wiota consolidated school for a
short time.

Surviving besides his parents
are five brothers, Leslie Esbeck,
at whose home the tragedy oc-
curred; Earl Esbeck, living north
of Atlantic; Orville Esbeck of
north of Wiota; and Lyle and Ken-
neth Esbeck, at home and the pa-
ternal grandfather, Lars Esbeck
of Elk Horn.

Funeral services are being held
in Elk Horn this afternoon and
burial will be in a cemetery there.

Note: Parents were Andrew Peter Esbeck and Katherine Marie Hansen.
