Relative of Local
People Died in Colorado

Carl Fricken, who for many years
made his home here with his uncle
and aunt, the late Nels J. Petersen
and wife, died January 20 at Fort
Lyons, Colorado, where he had been a
patient in a government sanitarium.
Mr. Fricken was 38 years of age. He
was a member of the Second Division
in the army of occupation with a
machine gun unit during the late
world war and fought in many of the
major engagements. The remains
were brought to Gilmore City, Iowa,
where a military funeral was held Sun-
day. The casket was draped with a
large American flag which was pre-
sented to Mrs. Nels J. Petersen of this
place following the services.

Those from here (Exira) who attended the
funeral were Mrs. Nels J. Petersen,
Jens Petersen, Mr. and Mrs. C.N. Han-
sen, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nelsen, Mr.
and Mrs. Chris Christensen, Mrs. Har-
old Dimick and Andrew Sorensen.
