Funeral Services For Well
Known Farmer Will Be
Friday Afternoon

Sam Sorensen, well known far-
mer of this community, (Exira) died Mon-
day afternoon at his home north-
west of town following a short ill-
ness.

Funeral services will be held at
2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the
Danish Lutheran church conducted
by the Rev. H. L. Jensen. Burial
will be in the Exira cemetery.

Mr. Sorensen was born in Den-
mark on January 6, 1882. He came
to the United States at the age of
21 years. He spent some time in
South Dakota, coming from that
state to Eixra. He was married to
Amanda Petersen at Elk Horn on
February 12, 1915, and they had
since resided on the farm where
he died.

He is survived by his widow; a
son, Elmer, at home; two daugh-
ters, Mrs. J. S. Gordon of Buffalo,
Wyoming, and Miss Edna Sorensen
of Des Moines, and a sister and
brother living in Denmark. The
daughter, Edna, a nurse at the Lu-
theran hospital in Des Moines, has
been her two weeks helping in
the care of her father.

Mr. Sorensen was a member of
the Danish Lutheran church. He
had been a member of the board of
directors of the Exira creamery
for many years.
