Funeral Of
Brayton Man
Held Friday

Pioneer Farmer Died Near
Brayton Saturday After
Long Illness

Funeral services were held Tues-
day for Isaac Smith well known
farmer who had resided west of
Brayton for many years. The ser-
vices were held at the Brayton
Baptist church at two o'clock with
the Rev. Henry Olsen, pastor of the
Elk Horn Danish Baptist church,
in charge. Burial was in the Oak-
field cemetery.

Mr. Smith had been ill for several
months. He was a patient sufferer
and was ready to answer the sum-
mons of his Saviour. His death oc-
curred Saturday shortly afternoon.

Mr. Smith was born in Illinois on
April 7, 1856, the son of Christo-
pher and Elizabeth (Lewis) Smith. He came
with his parents to Jefferson, Iowa,
when five years of age. When he
was 19 years old the family moved
to a farm west of Brayton and he
had resided in that community
since. He was married to Miss
Grace Essington in Atlantic on Feb-
ruary 4, 1892. To this union ten
children were born who, with his
widow survive.

The children are Miss Gussie,
Clarence, Louis and Matthew Smith
all at home; Harvey, Chris and Ros-
coe Smith of Brayton vicinity, Mrs.
Harry Miller and Mrs. O. D. Jensen
of Detroit, Michigan, and Mrs.
Clarence Rohrer of Council Bluffs.
Four sisters, Mrs. Mary Frasier of
Carson, Mrs. Sarah Sheakleau of
Adair, Mrs. Ella Cannon of Red
Oak and Mrs. J. W. Peterman of
Atlantic, also survive.
