Annie J. Smith, wife of J(ames). S(imeon). Smith (1842-1922),
died at Pasadena, California, Febru-
ary 2. The deceased was born near
Wellsburg, West Virginia, where she
lived until the family moved to Iowa
in 1870, living in what was then
known as the "Early School Dis-
trict." At her death she left nine
living children, fifty-three grand
children and thirty-six great grand-
children.

Six sons and one daughter were
present at the funeral. Her hus-
band passed away some four years
ago. With her husband she joined
the Christian church in 1878 and they
were charter members of the Exira
congregation. There is only one
charter member of the local church
living now, Daniel Bruner (1843-1930), who resides
with his daughter, Mrs. Ed (Harriett) Clure (1866-1947), at
Redlands, California.
