AUDUBON WOMAN DIES.

Mrs. Fred Plaehn passed away Sat-
urday at her home in Audubon, death
following a lingering illness. Mrs.
Plaehn had been failing rapidly dur-
ing the few months preceding her
death, and she had been bedfast since
December. She was in her fiftieth
year.

The deceased, whose maiden name
was Mary Ballman, was born in Wis-
consin on August 14, 1876. At an
early age she came with her parents
to Iowa, the family settling first in
Pocahontas, from there to Pottawat-
tamie county and thence to Audubon (line printed upside down)
in the year 1884.

She was married to Fred Plaehn in
St. Louis on April 18, 1906. They
continued to make that place their
home until the year 1910, when they
moved to Audubon.

Those who survive besides the hus-
band are two brothers, Mike Ballman,
North Branch, and Paul Ballman, Chi-
cago; and two sisers, Mrs. R. C.
MacNair, St. Joseph, Mo. and Mrs.
John Coleman, Columbine, Wyo.

Funeral services were held Tues-
day morning at 10 o'clock in St. Pat-
rick's Catholic church, Audubon, Fr.
J. F. Costello officiating. Burial took
place in St. Patrick's cemetery.
