LONG TIME RESIDENT
BURIED SATURDAY

----------

Funeral services were held for the
late Ashael B. Burwell at the Chris-
tian church on Saturday afternoon at
two o'clock, conducted by Rev. Dale
Humbert. The remains were laid to
rest in the Exira cemetery.

The deceased was born near Olin,
in Jones county, Iowa, on June 28,
1857. He lived there with his par-
ents until twenty-one years of age,
when he went to Kansas where he
lived seven years.

In 1884 he came to Exira and on
December 21, 1886, he was married
to Fanny Luella Fowler. After living
near Exira a short time they moved
to Kansas, where they resided sever-
al years. In the year 1900 they mov-
ed from Kansas to a farm near Oak-
field where they resided until the
fall of 1909, when they returned to
live in Exira.

Mr. Burwell was a noble and kind
man, and a gentle loving husband.
He was always ready and willing to
assist his neighbors and friends and
was an exceptionally good friend to
children. Many times he has gone
out of his way to assist strangers and
his friends were numbered only by
those who knew him.

The deceased had been a patient
sufferer for many years, but had al-
ways been able to be up and around
until about three weeks before his
death, when high blood pressure con-
fined him to the house.

He was a firm believer in Christ
and always thought prayer was the
path to Salvation, and had been a
member of the Methodist church
since an early age.

He is survived by the wife, one
brother, Wm. Burwell of Smith Cen-
ter, Kansas, and several nieces and
nephews.

CARD OF THANKS

I wish to express my sincere
thanks to my neighbors and friends
for their many acts of kindness dur-
ing the illness and death of my be-
loved husband. Also for the many
beautiful floral offerings.
Mrs. Fanny Burwell
