Martin Jensen
Dies Following
A Long Illness----------
Had Been Patient Sufferer
For Many Years. Fun-
eral Held Monday----------
Martin Jensen, well known resi-
dent of Exira, died Friday morn-
ing at the family home here. Mr.
Jensen had been a sufferer from
rheumatism for many years and
during the past few weeks had been
confined to his bed and a good
share of that time had been in con-
siderable pain.Mr. Jensen was born in Binslow
Vensysel, Denmark, on June 5,
1850. He was married to Gertrude
Anna Andersen on January 9, 1874,
and they came to America on April
21, 1881, settling near Marion in
Linn county, Iowa. They lived
there until March 1, 1900, when
they moved to Audubon county
where they have since resided. Mr.
Jensen was a lifelong member of
the Danish Lutheran church.He is survived by his widow,
twelve children, two brothers, 33
grand children and 10 great grand
children. The children are Mrs.
Hanna Wren of Waterloo, Mrs.
Mary Christoffersen of Cedar
Falls, Mrs. Anna Dye of Marion,
Mrs. Minnie Barentsen of Audubon,
Neal, Herman and Sam Jensen of
Estancia, N. M., Oscar Jensen of
Manson, Mrs. Julia Workman, An-
drew, Ben and George Jensen of
Exira. The brothers are Neal
Jensen of Exira and Jens Peter
Jensen who resides in Denmark.Funeral services were held at the
Danish Lutheran church Monday
afternoon at two o'clock with the
Rev. Frits Andersen in charge.
Burial was in the Exira cemetery.
