DON J. PRESTON OF
AUDUBON PASSES----------
Funeral Services to be Held
In Audubon Tomorrow at
Two O'clock----------
Don J. Preston, 41 years of age, son
of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Preston of
Audubon, died very suddently on Tues-
day morning at nine o'clock, at Mayo
Bros. hospital in Rochester, Minn.,
following an operation for ulcers of
the stomach, submitted to only two
weeks ago. Mr. Preston was appar-
ently recovering very nicely, as only
on the morning of his death, his wife
and several friends received letters
and cards informing them that he was
doing splendidly, which encouraged
them very much. The message com-
ing shortly afterward announcing his
death was a distinct shock to the rela-
tives and numerous friends. It was
only last Saturday that Mrs. Preston
returned home from her husband's
bed side, believing that he would ulti-
mately recover. "Don," as he was
familiarly known, was in business in
Audubon for a large number of years
in different enterprises and has a host
of friends who will regret to learn
of his untimely death. The deceased is survived by his wife
and son, Jack, also his parents, four
brothers and four sisters as follows:
Edward of Audubon; Henry of Lane,
S. D.; George of Van Nuys, Calif.;
Harold of Carroll; Mrs. D. C. Bell of
Anita; Ruth of Audubon; Mrs. B. R.
Rice of Oelwein, and Lowene of Audu-
bon. A brother, John preceded him
in death several months ago.The body arrived in Audubon Wed-
nesday afternoon. Funeral services
will be held tomorrow afternoon at
two o'clock at the home of his parents,
conducted by Rev. O. B. Lee of the
Presbyterian church and burial will
be in Arlington Heights cemetery.
