---------

Mrs. Anthony Davis, a resident of
Audubon county during all except
three years of her life, died Sunday
morning at her home near Hamlin.
Death followed a lingering illness and
was not unexpected. She was 65
years old.

Mrs. Davis was born in Pike county,
Illinois, in 1862 and came to Audubon
county with her parents three years
later. Her marriage to Anthony W.
Davis took place in 1878. She enjoyed
a wide acquaintance in the county, and
was closely identified with its early
progress, having seen the growth of
towns and the advent of the railroads.

She had been a member of the
Methodist church for years, having
become affiliated with the church at
Old Hamlin during her early child-
hood.

She is survived by the husband and
five children as follows: Elmer, Ham-
lin; Evelyn Hockenberry, Exira; Clar-
ence, Exira; Mae Clehlan, Providence,
Rhode Island and Sanford, Hamlin
Two other children preceded their
mother in death. 12 grandchildren
also survive.

Funeral services were held at the
home Monday morning at 11 o'clock,
Rev. W. Z. Allen of Audubon First
Presbyterian church officiating. Burial
was made in Maple Grove cemetery
in Audubon.
