MRS. S. D. HARN
IS CALLED BEYOND

HAD RESIDED IN EXIRA OVER
FIFTY YEARS. WAS NIECE
OF FAMOUS GENERAL

Mrs. Samuel D. Harn, a resident
of Exira for over fifty years, passed
away at her home in West Exira on
Monday morning, death being due to
a bursted blood vessel. Mr. Harn (1840-1925)
died early in the spring and since
that time her grandson, Carroll Wood-
ruff, and a great dranddaughter have
been living with her.

Mrs. Harn was born February 26,
1944 in Virginia. Her maiden name
was McClelland, she being a niece of
the well known General McClelland.
She was married to S. D. Harn at
Moravia, Iowa, on February 23, 1864,
while he was home on a furlough on
account of wounds received during the
early days of the civil war. After a
short stay in Vermont, Illinois, the
couple came to Audubon county, where
they lived for over half a century.

The deceased is survived by two
children, Mrs. Emma Woodruff of
Peoria, Illinois, and Samuel E. Harn
of Spencer, Nebraska. Another daugh-
ter (Frances) passsed away many years ago.

Funeral services were held at the
Christian church, of which she had
been a member for over thirty years,
Wednesday afternoon conducted by
Rev. Dale Humbert assisted by Rev.
Robert N. Chord. Interment was in
the Exira cemetery.

for their many acts of kindness dur-
ing the illness and death of our be-
loved mother and grandmother. We
also wish to thank those who sent
floral offerings, especially the Ameri-
can Legion.
