Fred H. Sturgeon was the son of Harold and Margaret Siebert Sturgeon and died at the Cass County Memorial Hospital at the age of 76 years, 3 months, and 21 days.
He was baptized at the Exira Christian Church in Exira, Iowa; attended school in Exira and graduated with the Exira High School Class of 1931.
On January 14, 1933 he was united in marriage to Juanita Rogers in Maryville, Missouri. They operated a dairy north of Exira for many years. He then farmed and worked as a carpenter for Kozy Mfg. in Exira until he retired in 1977. He then worked as a carpenter and as a handy man for many people as long as his health permitted. He was an active member of the Exira Christian Church.
Preceding him in death was a granddaughter, Christine Sturgeon; his parents; and a brother, William Sturgeon, who died in infancy.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Sturgeon of Exira, IA; his children and their spouses: Richard and Delia Sturgeon of Audubon, IA; Donita and Wayne Peterson of Indianola, IA; and Karen and Bruce Polly of Collins, IA; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; his brother and wife, James and Eunice Sturgeon of Sacramento, CA; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family of Mr. Sturgeon appreciates the many expressions of sympathy and concern. Everyone is invited to meet with them in the church fellowship room following the committal service.
