Miss Ida Gertrude Metcalf was
born in Jones Co., Iowa, January
19, 1859, and died at the Mission
Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, July
22, 1919, age 60 years, 6 months,
and 3 days.
When but a child she moved with
her parents to Greentop, Schuyler
County, Missouri, where she grew
to womanhood. In September,
1867 (1876), she was united in marriage to
John Wright of Moberly, Missouri.
From there, with her husband, she
moved to Clinton, Henry County,
Missouri, where they lived and
were blessed with nine children, all
of whom, excepting the eldest, were
born in their little home three miles
-est of Clinton. One boy died in
infancy. Mr. Wright passed away
---April 1907. After his death, she
came to Iowa and has lived here
until God called her to live with
her loved ones gone on before. She
leaves to mourn her loss, eight chil-
dren, 22 grand-children and two
sisters, besides a host of other rela-
tives and friends. The children
were all at the bedside at the time
of her death, except U. L. Wright
of Montana and Earnest Wright of
Kansas. Earnest came, but too
late to see his mother alive. The
six children living in Iowa are Mrs.
Harve Lile, Mr. Ewing Wright, Mr.
Sidney Wright, Mrs. Susie Lawler,
Mrs. Grace Schwab, and Mrs. Lillie
Zaiger.
Mrs. Wright united with the
Christian Church in Iowa when a
girl and lived a devoted worker to
her church until the church died,
