Taken from the Audubon County Advocate dated January 3, 1889:
Miss Laura Miller, eldest daughter of Mrs. B.F. Miller, died at her late home in Melville township, last Saturday, aged about fifteen years, of consumption. The funeral was held Sunday, Rev. J. B. Harris conducting the services. For the third time in two years death has resulted from the insiduous disease within this family circle. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of many friends in their afflictions.
