Audubon County Advocate, November 25, 1886:
The sad though not unexpected news of the death of B. F. Miller of Melville township, was received in this place yesterday morning. He has long suffered from consumption and was much worse Tuesday. Dr. Holmes and Dr. Cloughly held a consultation but were unable to give any hope of his recovery from the apparent crisis. Mr. Miller was about 50 years of age and had been a long time and respected citizen of this country, and a member of Allison Post, G. A. R. The funeral will be held today, services to be conducted by the Rev. J. B. Harris.
