I found the following in the Union Township-Appanoose County, IA-Cemetery Book published in the 1980s by the Appanoose Gen. Society:

Unionville, Iowa Cemetery

Row 17

VANDERVETER: William son of C.W. and M. Vanderveter d.Aug. 22, 1863

I know some of the letters differ from those you have in the names, but am guessing the stone was hard to read when the tabulations were taken.
